Hat's Off to You!

Brother and Sister birthdays raise $570 for Habitat!

On June 18th, Brayden turned 7 years of age while his sister Morgan turned 10 just eight days later. The two siblings have started celebrating their birthday parties by forgoing gifts in lieu of accepting donations to charities. Under their parents' guidance, the two siblings have learned the difference between a 'want' and a 'need'. Morgan, being older understands this and helps her younger brother see what a difference the two of them can make by helping others far less fortunate. Last year the two children collected donations to go to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. This year, donations from their two birthday parties were directed to Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg to help build more homes for families in need to create brighter futures for their children. Morgan was so thrilled at being able to help others, she and her brother presented HFHW all the individual donation cheques totaling $570 in a personalized envelope that included a colourful drawing depicting a home scene. Habitat thanks Morgan and Brayden for their generosity, and their parents for instilling the difference between a 'need' and a 'want' into their children.

Many thanks to Peter and the golfers and we hope to see you at it again next year!

A unique Habitat auction prize from the Manitoba Home Builders Association

On May 18, the Manitoba Home Builders Association (MHBA) held a Wine & Cheese evening to recognize 39 companies who have been members for 25 years or more and introduce eight new members. The event took place at the Victoria Inn which saw over 200 people enjoy a silent auction to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg. One of the hotly contested items was a unique $5,000 charitable donation tax receipt from Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg. The winning bid was from Laurence and Elizabeth Rosenberg who sent a cheque for $5,000 to Habitat and then received the official tax. Habitat thanks the MHBA for their support and to Laurence and Elizabeth Rosenberg for their generous donation.
