 Every year, Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg relies on hundreds of valuable volunteers to help fulfill its mission of building safe, decent, affordable housing for low-income working families to purchase.
Throughout the year, various volunteer opportunities are available in the following areas:
Pre build April 7 to July 16. We need volunteers Wednesdays to Saturdays, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm and Wednesday and Thursday evenings, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm to help prepare the foundations for the blitz build.
Blitz Build July 17, 19 to 23 & July 26 to 30. For these two weeks, approximately 300 volunteers come together to build homes and make a difference for some Winnipeg families.
Post build August 24 throughout October, Tuesdays to Fridays, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Final preparations are completed so the families can move in to their new homes.
Volunteer on a build - Lend a hand and your heart to help Habitat eliminate poverty housing and learn some new skills. No experience necessary.
Three steps to volunteering
#1 - Fill out a Volunteer application choosing your volunteer date(s) and send back to rlanouette@habitat.mb.ca or fax 233-5271. You may also mail or drop your application off at 60 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2J 0V8
#2 – Read the Volunteer Manual to find out where to go, when to be there and what to bring.
#3 – Complete the Safety Training Course and forward the certificate to rlanouette@habitat.mb.ca
 Safety Training - All volunteers must have taken our Safety Training Course in the calendar year prior to when they are scheduled to volunteer on the build sites.
Volunteer for the Volunteers - During the blitz build July 17, 19 to 23 and July 26 to 30, we need volunteers to help serve two coffee breaks and lunch daily to the construction volunteers. This is a great opportunity if you don’t want to swing a hammer but still want to be involved. Contact Rhonda Lanouette at 233-5160 ext: 210 or rlanouette@habitat.mb.ca
Restore Volunteer -The Habitat ReStore is always looking for volunteers. You can make a difference by helping to keep our administrative costs down, enabling 100% of donations to go to our build program. Contact Brenda Mulvaney at 233-5160 ext 214 or bmulvaney@habitat.mb.ca
 Event Volunteer - Throughout the year, Habitat for Humanity hosts a variety of fundraising events. By volunteering your time, not only do you help Habitat raise funds to build homes but you will enjoy a great experience working with others. Group Volunteering - A team building experience. If you have a group of 6- 10 people and would like to organize a build day, contact Rhonda Lanouette at 233-5160 ext:210 or rlanouette@habitat.mb.ca
